Webinar | Flex Mix: recipes for a balanced energy system
Wednesday 3 December 2025 | 10 - 11
Flexibility is critical to delivering a low cost, equitable, resilient Net Zero energy system. However, the mix of flexible assets required at each point in the transition to Net Zero and beyond is unclear. The Flex Mix project considered the factors driving the need for different types, locations, scales and durations of flexibility and how they might be used.
This webinar will:
Introduce the flexibility taxonomy we developed to support a common language on the topic of flexibility across key stakeholders and enable easier conversations and open up new opportunities.
Present a conceptual framework to think about flexibility, how it might be enabled and the opportunities and challenges of doing so.
Explain the modelling approach taken to explore different outcomes regarding the types and levels of uptake of flexibility.
Summarise some of the key findings from the project, the key conditions required to enable flexibility and the actions required to achieve them.
Energy Systems Nexus is an industry-funded Net Zero collaboration initiative, bringing together a diverse group of the brightest minds from across the energy sector, from energy generation and infrastructure, to energy retail and digitalisation. Flex Mix is the first of many collaboratively defined projects by the members of the Nexus, intending to deliver impact through the creation of evidence-based insights.
